Ni-Cola Ministries is a Christian not for profit organisation whose mission is to share Good news and positive messages with all people groups through the arts. Ni-Cola Ministries was established in 2009.
Having now secured enough funding to record and produce a Gospel music album that we can distribute freely to young people, through our concerts in various places such as: schools, street outreach, concerts, through our website, free downloads, and other outlets.
The music we create is relevant to current youth culture; it challenges negative stereotypes and behaviour. Provides an alternative to the current messages often portrayed in current chart music, such as promiscuity, Gun and knife crime, Violence, and other negative messages that are channelled through the medium of music.
As an organisation we recognise that young people in today’s society establish their identity through music and so we want to demonstrate a Christ like identity that will attract them to living a positive life and that will empower them to be young people who make positive choices and lasting impacts.
The organisation is based within Manchester where we have high rates of unemployment, teenage pregnancy, truancy, substance misuse, and various other issues that the young people are facing. We aim through our project to engage these young people to an alternative message through our music. This would be done through providing workshops, mentorship, local concerts and partnering with other likeminded organisations.
We would also like to work with other organisations that host concerts but lack the funding to pay for our travel costs. Such as student unions, churches, youth group, and schools.
We are aiming to raise funds to create new works that we can give away freely this will allow our music to have a greater impact on the young person as they can now take the product home and access it. We will include information and resources within the cd also for the young person’s benefit.
We want to change the negative messages and images portrayed within 21st century music, and to promote positive self-esteem, healthy relationships, making a positive contribution to society, and enjoying and achieving.
Part of our work is new, i.e. the new album, each song will be written by me and will all be original material targeted at disaffected youth.
